WKNO-FM has received a grant from the Corporation of Public Broadcasting (CPB) to upgrade WKNP 90.1 in Jackson, TN to HD Radio.

HD Radio technology allows listeners access to their choice of NPR News, Classical Music or the BBC World Service on three separate programming streams.

The conversion of Jackson’s 90.1 will require the purchase of a new transmitter. CPB has offered a grant of $75,000 that must be matched with local funding in order to purchase the new transmitter and the needed related equipment.

As an added bonus, because the Jackson transmitter – it’s been chugging along for the past 18 years miraculously surviving a tornado that toppled the broadcast tower – needs to be replaced, this is a wonderful opportunity to get CPB dollars for a project that needs to be done anyway.

Your participation in the HD Capital Campaign now with a pledge of $500, $1000 or $2000 will go directly to this project.

For more information on how your dollars can enhance the services WKNO currently provides in the Jackson and Madison County area, please contact Dan Campbell, WKNO’s General Manager, at (901) 325-6530 or email us here.
