Farmers Market season is in full swing

Memphis Farmers Market

If you want to enjoy delicious, perfectly ripe, local produce, now is the time to head to your favorite Farmers Market.

I sat down with the new Executive Director of the Memphis Farmers Market - Rebecca Dull – to learn what we can expect to find at the farmers market right now.

“So right now we are moving out of berry season – so you might be able to catch the last of the blackberries or the blueberries. We are moving into some of our mid-Summer produce so we’ll have some apples coming up soon, bell peppers, squashes, zucchinis, and of course there’s always greens and herbs all season long.”

The Memphis Farmers Market has on average about 60 vendors each month.  In addition to produce, you can find locally raised beef, fresh eggs, cheeses, jams and jellies, sweet treats, baked goods like breads and bagels, and even beer.  Everything sold at the Memphis Farmers Market is either grown or made by the vendor selling it.

This year they have new hours.  The market is open every Saturday through October from 8 am until 1 pm.  The earlier you arrive, the better the selection.

And don’t let the construction in the neighborhood deter you from heading to the market.

“There’s lots of parking available in the parking lot as well as on the street and you can get to us from other parts of downtown since the trolleys are up and running again this year and Explore Bike Share just launched.”

Take advantage of all the wonderful eats grown and made here in our hometown available only at our farmers markets – I guarantee you won’t be disappointed!
