Those in the audience had lined up hours in advance to get seats for the world premier of the Batman movie, "The Dark Knight Rises." Many were dressed festively, in costume, but the movie and the evening ended in horror.
At least 12 people were killed in Aurora, Colo., when a gunman walked into a theater showing the new Batman movie. One witness saw an explosion at the bottom of the theater near the screen.
