Ken Burns' "Country Music" comes to WKNO-TV
Beginning September 15, Country Music features never-before-seen footage and photographs, plus interviews with more than 80 country music artists. The eight-part 16-hour series is directed and produced by Ken Burns; written and produced by Dayton Duncan; and produced by Julie Dunfey.
In this interview, recorded in March at Sam Phillips Recording Service, Ken Burns and Dayton Duncan discuss the origin of the series, the definition of "country music," and the process of gathering more than 100 interviews, hundreds of songs, and thousands of still photographs. They also discuss the pivotal roles of Memphis and Sam Phillips to the development of this quintessentially American music.
