When was the last time you were in Overton Park?

For some of you, the answer is never.

For all of you, if you haven't been recently, you should go. It is flat out beautiful and fun. The Old Forest Arboretum is one of the few remaining old growth forest in Tennessee. There are over 300 varieties of foliage. The formal gardens are stunning and Veterans Park reminds us of those from Memphis who died in every war since World War I. The zoo is every year ranked one of the best in America, and the Overton Park 9 draws national attention for its redesign and its openness to golfers of all ages and ability.

Whenever I'm on a trip, I always look for the public parks a city offers. Overton Park stands up well to the parks in the major cities of the world. When they tried to put Interstate 40 through Overton Park in the 1960s, thank God the citizens to preserve Overton Park prevailed with the Supreme Court. If you head to the park today, you will be so glad you did. This is Dr. Scott Morris for Church Health.
