- those are three words we have all been eager to hear.
Oxford, Mississippi, caterer and former MemphianElizabeth Heiskellhas penned a new cookbook entitled “Come on Over!” The recipes are designed to help you put delicious dishes on the table for every day and every occasion.
“We can finally have people over!” Elizabeth exclaimed when we talked about her new book. “I hope this book inspires people to have friends over. If we learned anything during the past year, it’s how important friends and family are.”
Like her previous three cookbooks, “Come on Over!” is full of Southern recipes that are easy to prepare, but full of flavor and Elizabeth’s Southern flair. The recipes are tried-and-true dishes that she has used for years in her home as well as for affairs catered by her Elizabeth Heiskell catering company.
Elizabeth offered these three tips to help you make having friends over easier.
Don’t clean anything below the waist.
So many times hostesses focus on cleaning baseboards when their guests are no more looking at anything but the beautiful faces of your guests and the lovely food you’ve prepared.
Do as much ahead of time as possible.
The last thing your guests want to see when they arrive is their hostess sweaty and frazzled in the kitchen
Take advantage of entertaining outside while the weather is beautiful.
Mother Nature has done all the work for you - why not enjoy!
On May 19, Elizabeth, Chef Kelly English of The Second Line and Restaurant Iris, and Novel bookstorewill host a virtual talk and cooking demo at 6 p.m. The event is free, but pre-registration is required. Head to novelmemphis.com for more information.
