Downtown Memphis Developments Aren't Just for Millennials

Downtown Memphis is gearing up for a massive building boom. In the next few years, new highrises and complexes could make an enormous impact on both the city's skyline and its demographic mix. Commercial Appeal reporter Desiree Stennett says millennials are a major factor in the Downtown renaissance. Both FedEx and Indio Ag moved to the city's core, in part, because younger employees want a more energetic and walkable location. Projects such as Union Row cater to the "live, work, play" set. But Stennett adds that other big projects, such as the upscale tower One Beale, are aiming for an older, wealthier clientele.
