French Films Return to Rhodes

Rhodes College

Now in its fourth year at Rhodes, the Tournées French Film Festival is back.

At 7 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from Jan. 26 through Feb. 10, Communities in Conversation will be hosting the festival, which features a series of five new French films and a classic, all subtitled and introduced by Rhodes faculty or local experts. Moderated discussions will follow some of the films as well. The films, which will be shown in the Blount Auditorium of Buckman Hall on the Rhodes campus, are free and open to the public. There is a reception before the viewing starting at 6:30 p.m. for both the opening and closing films.

In this interview, Spence L. Wilson Chair in the Humanities at Rhodes Dr. Jonathan Judaken and Rhodes Professor of French Dr. Laura Loth discuss the Communities in Conversation series and the films in this year's Festival.

I began piano lessons at age 6, trumpet at age 9, and began teaching myself the guitar at 10. My electronics knowledge comes from my father, who had the RCA television and stereo shop in my hometown of Pocahontas, Arkansas for nearly 20 years. My dad is still fixing televisions at age 79.
