Tailgating Time

Tailgating will look different this year. But just because you will most likely be watching the game from the comfort of your own home, doesn’t mean you can’t partake in this game day tradition.

Here are a few tips to help you host a fun and safe tailgate this year.

Serve a variety of foods to satisfy all tastes. For example, don’t just serve chicken wings. Have hot dogs or even a healthy alternative to go along with those wings.

Be sure to have enough food. Do a headcount of how many people might stop by … and make a little extra, just in case.

Tailgating typically consists of several hours of eating, drinking and socializing. Use coolers and aluminum trays with covers to keep food safe at just the right temperature.

Tailgating is a fun way to showcase your team spirit.  Tablecloths and napkins in your team colors are an easy way to cheer on your team. Also, consider decorating cookies and cupcakes with your team’s logo.

Ordering masks with your team’s logo could be a fun addition to a Covid-safe soiree.

Also, have plenty of hand-sanitizer around for your guests.

And … if cooking isn't your thing (or you don't have time), place a carryout order with a local catering company or a restaurant.

A great option that will also help make a difference is Courage Thru Cancer’s “Take-Home Tailgate Party” fundraiser on October 24.

Each order will include all you need to host a BBQ tailgate for 12 people. Pulled pork, ribs, and all the fixin’s will be included in each $250 box.

Order by October 11 at  couragethrucancer.com.  Each purchase is tax deductible and all proceeds go to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
