BTH: Shelby County Commissioners Discuss Penny Tax, Schools, More

Though Shelby County's 2021-22 budget has been approved, there is a chance commissioners will revisit the proposal of a penny tax increase. The small tax hike would go toward mental health treatment. However, not every commissioner is on board.

Shelby County Commissioners Van Turner and Mark Billingsley join this week’s WKNO-TV Behind the Headlines with host Eric Barnes and Daily Memphian reporter Bill Dries. Guests weigh the benefits and drawbacks of the possible tax increase.

In addition, guests talk about local crime, changes to Shelby County Schools' partnership with Porter-Leath, and more.
