The problem is is almost no one I know readily accepts change. Someone who once worked with me often remarked that people resist change because, "I like it like I like it." But resisting change precludes the possibility of emotional and spiritual growth. I hope that I am not the same person today that I was at 15. And I also hope that I still have in me the ability to accept changes that will help me grow as a person. And in this new year, our society can emerge from our existential crisis if we don't embrace changes from the status quo. We like it like we like it because it is easy and comfortable, but it is only with change that we can experience the full bounty of this one life we have. This is Dr. Scott Morris for Church Health.
