BTH: Future of TVA in Memphis

BTH1244.jpeg

For years, Memphis Light Gas and Water has relied on power generated locally by the Tennessee Valley Authority. But some critics believe that other private power companies might offer far cheaper alternatives, passing those savings onto customers.

Jeff Lyash, TVA's President and CEO, says it will be costly and potentially unviable for MLGW to find another utility company that can offer all that TVA does.

Lyash adds that over the past several decades TVA has provided 35,000+ jobs and significant economic investment in the Mid-South.

Lyash discusses the future of TVA in Memphis, this week on Channel 10’s Behind the Headlines with host Eric Barnes and Daily Memphian reporter Bill Dries.

In addition, Lyash talks about TVA's future plans and how they might impact their coverage area.
