TN Politics: Lawmakers Close Session With Loose Ends on Abortion, COVID Liability

WKNO-FM

The 111th Tennessee General Assembly adjourned last Friday, saving a vote on a controversial abortion ban for the midnight hour. And while Gov. Bill Lee finally got the law he'd been asking for, which will be challenged in the courts, he was disappointed that lawmakers left Nashville without passing legislation that would prevent lawsuits over COVID.

As state government encourages people to get back to work, it is also demanding that people to risk their health in workplaces that may or may not be adequately protecting employees. For that reason, even some Republicans have called efforts to limit lawsuits unconstitutional.
