BTH: Remodeling the Memphis Riverfront

A massive makeover is planned for Memphis' riverfront, from Mud Island to the Metal Museum. This week on WKNO-TV's Behind the Headlines, Carol Coletta, president and CEO of Memphis River Parks Partnership, talks about the plans to unite the public spaces and create more value for citizens.

Financing the project, she says, is one of the biggest challenges faced by the Memphis River Parks Partnership. She breaks down the funding sources for the parks and trails' expansion.

Coletta believes that a new redesign of the Memphis riverfront will be good for tourism and create a spectacular horizon for anyone approaching from Arkansas. But Coletta also wants to make sure the expansions are designed in ways that benefit Memphians, day in and day out.
