Interview with Antjie Krog

Antjie Krog

Host Jonathan Judaken talks with South African poet and journalist Antjie Krog. Krog has established herself as one of South Africa's leading Afrikaans poets, later distinguishing herself as the lead radio reporter covering the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. Her book, Country of My Skull: Guilt, Sorrow, and the Limits of Forgiveness in the New South Africa, is one of the defining works on the meaning of the South African Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

Interview with Robert Alter

Host Jonathan Judaken talks with Robert Alter, renowned Professor of Hebrew and Comparative Literature at the University of California, Berkley.  

Alter is one of the greatest living literary scholars and analysts of the Bible.  He is the author of some 20 books that cover the gamut of the history of the Bible, to contemporary American fiction, to commentaries on modern Hebrew literature.  He has also received critical acclaim for his recent translations of the Five Books of Moses and Psalms.  His most recent publication is Pen of Iron: American Prose and the King James Bible.
