Unity, Grace, and Purpose

We live in a world where all too often it feels like we are always alone and on our own to deal with troubles.

As an alternative, consider how geese and ducks fly in a V formation. They fly with unity, grace, and purpose, and when they fly in formation, they fly 70% faster than a single goose, and the lead bird does not necessarily have the most strenuous position. All those wings flapping in formation create an upwash whose benefits are shared by all the birds, including the leader. And then no single bird is always in the lead. They rotate out for the good of the whole.

I know we aren't birds, but the concepts of unity, grace, and purpose are tenants we could all benefit from today. We don't have to go it alone. In life, we need each other. Maybe we can remember that geese fly faster in formation than one by one. The upwash from their flapping wings benefits everyone. I hope we might find a way to fly in unity with grace and purpose, intention and verve all to the end. We might all be more fully alive. This is Dr. Scott Morris for Church Health.
