Go, Tigers, go!

College basketball matters in Memphis.

It's more than the players that come and go, more than the challenges of NIL and the ever-changing landscape of college sports. What stays the same is the name on the front of the jersey, Memphis. And that name matters. In Memphis, we feel underestimated, overlooked, even disrespected.

But this time, the NCAA Tournament Committee got it right. A number five seed is a recognition that our team earned the chance they have been given. For a few days, at least until Friday, we get to be hopeful. We get to believe in what's possible. But no matter what happens on Friday, pride in this team and in this city won't fade, because Memphis basketball isn't just about this year's tournament run. It's about the connection between a team and its people, about resilience, about fight for respect, and proving we belong.

So, as the Tigers take the floor, we'll be right there with them. And no matter what the scoreboard says, we'll keep wearing our Memphis pride right on the front of our jersey and in our hearts. Go, Tigers, go. This is Dr. Scott Morris for Church Health.
