Just wait 'til next year!

Saturday afternoon, the season ended for the Memphis Grizzlies.

A hard loss, yes, but Memphis is never just about basketball. Here the Grizzlies are more than a team. They're a mirror, a reflection of who we are. We see it every time Ja Morant soars above the rim, defying gravity, inspiring us with his athleticism. And we feel it in our bones every time he crashes to the floor, holding our breath, afraid he might be hurt. That blend of hope and fear, of daring and vulnerability is something we know well in this city.

Now, as the season ends, my thoughts turn to the future. This summer, Memphis needs a long-term deal, a guarantee that the Grizzlies stay where they belong, not just for trophies, but for identity, for pride, for every kid who sees Ja leap into the air and believes that they, too, can fly. The season's over, but our love isn't because in Memphis, we don't just root for a team, we root for ourselves. As long as the Grizzlies wear Memphis across their chest, we'll be right there standing with them, standing with us always.
