Love Still Lives Here

Today is my wedding anniversary.

That's usually a private celebration, but this year, Mary and I wanted to share it with our city because joy, like love, grows when it's given away. We love Memphis, not just for its river and music, but for its spirit. The city breaks your heart and heals it in the same breath. It teaches you that beauty and struggle live side by side, that grace can bloom from the cracks in our sidewalks.
These days, the presence of the National Guard has stirred fear and unease, but fear will not rule the day. Not here, not in the city that taught the world what it means to turn pain into purpose and sorrow into song. When Mary and I walk along the Mississippi holding hands, we see a city that refuses to give up, a city that still believes in what is possible. So today, let this small celebration be for all of us a reminder that love still lives here. That hope still hums beneath the surface, and that Memphis and all its imperfection still gives us reason to sing. Because when we love this city and one another with open hands, life truly matters.
