People of many faith traditions gathered around the same tables, shared the same bread, and told the same kind of stories, stories about hope, about struggles, about raising children, and about our love of Memphis. It felt both ordinary and holy at the same time. In a world that too often suffers from division, simply sitting down together is a powerful act. We didn't gather to debate theology, but to listen, to learn, to see the face of God reflected in someone whose prayers may sound different from our own. For our city to flourish, we must choose relationships over rhetoric. We must protect each other's dignity, and work side-by-side to restore justice and experience God's mercy. Interfaith communication is essential. Sunday night reminded me that when we come together at the table, hope has a fighting chance. This is Dr. Scott Morris at Church Health.
