Spring has a quiet way of reminding us ...

... that hope is never very far away.

Right now in Memphis, something beautiful is unfolding. The Dixon Gallery and Gardens and the Memphis Botanic Garden, more than one million tulips are in full bloom. Scarlet and gold, violet and white, lifting their bright faces toward the sun. But these flowers didn't appear overnight, their story began months ago in the fading days of autumn, when the air was turning cool and the trees were letting go of their leaves. One by one, those small bulbs were placed into the dark soil, out of light, through the long winter.
Someone believed that beneath their quiet earth, life was already preparing its return. And now it has. In a moment when the world can feel unsettled and uncertain, these fields of color offer a gentle reminder, life leans toward the light. Beauty still finds its way into the world. Sometimes the most hopeful thing we can do is plant something beautiful and trust that spring will come again. This is Dr. Scott Morris for Church Health.

Dr. G. Scott Morris, M.D., M.Div, founded Church Health, which opened in 1987 to provide quality, affordable health care for working, uninsured, or underserved people and their families.
