Cultivating relationships

Over the last few days, I had the privilege of spending time with a group of people I consider friends, people I admire, respect, and genuinely enjoy being around.

We shared meals, stories, laughter, and the kind of conversations that remind you what matters most. In a world that often celebrates independence and self-sufficiency, it's easy to overlook how much we need one another. Relationships don't stay strong by accident. They require time, attention, and intention. Like a garden, they need tending.
The older I get, the more convinced I am that one of life's greatest blessings is having people who know you well, challenge you when needed, encourage you when you're wary, and celebrate you when life is good. Communities like these don't just happen. We build them, nurture them, and protect them. And when we do, they become a source of strength, wisdom, and joy. Life matters. And one reason it matters so much is that we get to share it with others. This is Dr. Scott Morris for Church Health.

Dr. G. Scott Morris, M.D., M.Div, founded Church Health, which opened in 1987 to provide quality, affordable health care for working, uninsured, or underserved people and their families.
