Practice happiness

magnific.com

People spend a lifetime chasing happiness.

We imagine it's waiting in the next promotion, the next vacation, the next purchase, or the next achievement, yet happiness has a way of moving just beyond our reach. I've come to believe that happiness isn't something we find, it's something we practice. It grows when we're grateful for ordinary moments, when we choose kindness instead of keeping score, and when we invest in relationships rather than possessions.

The people I've met who radiate the deepest joy aren't the ones with the easiest lives. They're the ones who have discovered purpose in serving others and hope in the midst of hardship. Maybe the better question isn't, "What does it take to be happy?" Maybe it's, "How can I help someone else today?" Ironically, that's often where happiness begins. This is Dr. Scott Morris for Church Health.

Dr. G. Scott Morris, M.D., M.Div, founded Church Health, which opened in 1987 to provide quality, affordable health care for working, uninsured, or underserved people and their families.
