For more than 80 years, Memphis, Light, Gas and Water (MLGW) has relied on the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) as its main electric power provider. Now, with the help of a consulting firm, MLGW is in the process of researching and reviewing proposals for other possible power sources. Karl Schledwitz with $450 Million for Memphis says it could save the City of Memphis hundreds of millions of dollars to find an alternative electric provider. However, Schledwitz adds that the current process is flawed. Schledwitz argues for a more transparent and impartial look at finding another utility company for Memphis.
Guests discuss the pros and cons of the current MLGW process in searching for possible alternatives to TVA.
In addition, guests talk about their own research and beliefs about what MLGW should do.
