BTH: Memphis Mayor on Liberty Stadium Renovation, Crime, More

BTH1246.jpeg

This week, the University of Memphis (U of M) announced a nearly $200 million renovation to the Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium. Mayor Jim Strickland says the upgrades will decrease the stadium's capacity from the current 56,000 to around 50,000.

He says that while the renovation will benefit Memphis, the city won't help with the funding. It will, however, partner with U of M to ensure a smooth renovation process.

Strickland joins Channel 10’s Behind the Headlines with host Eric Barnes and Daily Memphian reporter Bill Dries. In addition to discussing the Simmons Bank Liberty Bowl, Strickland talks about 2022-23 city budget priorities, local crime, paving City streets and more.
