Everything You Need to know about Crisis PR You Learned in Kindergarten, by John Malmo.

Memphis, TN – So much for the intricate and mysterious world of crisis public relations. Never in such a brief period have we had three more serious PR crises than befell Tiger Woods, SeaWorld, and Toyota. And you know what? All three are coming through with hardly a scratch.

There are PR mavens who would tell us that proves what great work professionals did on behalf of each. Actually, Tiger fired his PR guy deep into his fiasco. And well into its disaster, Toyota was still being reported as stoic and arrogant, yet sales continue to rise. Some so-called pros said SeaWorld had to quickly assure everyone the park is safe. Had to explain why a whale killed a trainer, and that it won't happen again. The smartest one correctly predicted it might actually drive-up attendance among teens and young adults.

Trust me. Everything you need to know about crisis public relations you learned in kindergarten. When a crisis occurs, admit you did something wrong. Say it was my fault. Say I'm sorry, and I won't do it again. And above all, don't lie, as both Tiger and Toyota have been accused of. Then just shut up, and go back to work. Don't say anything else.
