Mohan Karkera is a retired pediatric anesthesiologist. He grew up in Mumbai, India. When Mohan was in the third grade, a new boy joined his class who was from Africa. Because of his thick accent, the other boys in the class were constantly making fun of him. As an eight year old, Mohan stood up and put a stop to the teasing.
Recently, the African boy learned that Mohan had become a physician and moved to America. By using the AMA's directory of members, he tracked Mohan down to Memphis and called him. His only purpose was to thank him for the kindness Mohan showed him 60 years before. At a difficult time in his young life, Mohan showed him that there are indeed people in the world whom you can trust. I hope today you will find opportunities to show kindness and act on them. You may never know how what you do can make a lifetime effect. This is Dr. Scott Morris for Church Health.
