Memphis, TN – Confusion reigns in regard to the Memphis mayor's office. Nicole Erwin spoke with Memphis Daily News reporter Bill Dries about what's next.
UPDATE: The Shelby County Election Commission met Thursday, July 9th to discuss Memphis Mayor Willie Herenton's decision to resign and determine a date for the special election. Although, the City Council, Tuesday passed a resolution stating the mayoral office will be vacant July 30th, the minutes for the meeting have yet to be approved. City Council Attorney Allan Wade has advised the Election Commission to postpone any further discussion regarding the special election until those minutes have been approved. The Election Commission agreed not to discuss the date of the special election any further until their next meeting, which is scheduled for July 22.
