Memphis, TN – Voting is underway in the Shelby County primary elections. Candice Ludlow reports.

Three Democrats Deidre Malone, Otis Jackson and Joe Ford face off to see who will come out on top in the Democratic primary for Shelby county mayor. Sheriff Mark Luttrell is also seeking that office, but as a Republican. He faces little opposition, so the Democratic winner will likely face Luttrell on August 5th.

After Luttrell decided to run for the county mayoral seat, eight candidates for sheriff stepped forward. On the Republican ticket are James Coleman, Dale Lane, Bill Oldham and Bobby Simmons. On the Democratic ticket are Bennie Cobb, Reginald French, Larry Hill and Randy Wade. A slew of county commission seats are also up for bid, as well as several court clerk positions, trustee, county clerk, and county register. Polls close at 7.
