Memphis, TN – In 2008, the General Assembly passed the Tennessee Voter Confidence Act mandating that all county election commissions in the state adopt optical scan voting machines by November 2010. Last year, the legislature postponed that deadline until November 2012. Candice Hoke is the Director of the Center for Election Integrity at Cleveland State. She tells Candice Ludlow why optical scanners are better than the electronic voting machines we currently use in Shelby County.
