Memphis, TN – NPR's Michele Norris has a new memoir out called The Grace of Silence. Norris' father was shot by a white police officer shortly after returning home from WWII. But he never told his daughter about it. Norris found out from an uncle after her dad's death. She told Eleanor Boudreau she was trying to understand why her dad kept this secret.
