Memphis, TN – The Shelby County Schools board has sued. Their claim is that the action by the Memphis City Schools board, surrendering their charter, (bolstered by the City Council Thursday) is unconstitutional. Memphis school board member Martavius Jones led the charter-surrender charge. He says he's offended by the lawsuit.

"And every Memphian should be offended by it," Jones said. "Shelby County Schools belongs to all Shelby Countians, not just those who live outside the city limits of Memphis."

Nonetheless, Shelby County school board chairman David Pickler told Eleanor Boudreau his board wants to wind the clock back to December 19th, 2010, the day before the Memphis board gave up their charter.
