Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland wants to know if you order takeout. Not just any takeout—a meal from a local business. He also wants photographic evidence.
The mayor—using surplus campaign money—will donate $25 dollars to the Mid-South Food Bank for every carry-out order posted on social media using the hashtag #mayorsmealchallenge and #saferathome.
Stickland will donate up to $2,500. Participants need to tag the city's Facebook or Twitter page.
Demand at the food bank has more than doubled since March as non-essential business closures have left thousands unemployed. To make a direct donation, visit their website.
