The Importance of Immunizations and Vaccines

Church Health

Immunizations and vaccines are a critical part of good healthcare.  Vaccines have been proven to make an impact in preventing disease.

The CDC shares the following advice about vaccines:

  • As a patient you have the power to protect yourself against vaccine preventable diseases.
  • Work with your medical provider to stay up-to-date on the vaccines that are recommended for you.

The American Academy of Pediatrics states that the recommended schedule of immunizations has been researched and documented to be the most effective way to protect children. If there are gaps in the shield of protection that immunizations provide, it can leave our communities more vulnerable to disease. Make sure that you follow the schedule.
When it comes to the new COVID-19 vaccine, please check with your healthcare provider and your local health department to know when you are eligible for the vaccine, and how to obtain the vaccine in your community.  Currently, Pfizer is recommended for ages 16 & up while Moderna and Johnson & Johnson are recommended for 18 & up.

Please know that immunizations are another tool in your healthcare toolbox to prevent illness, and to help you stay healthy and well.
