This year there have been more than 30 "road rage" style shootings on Memphis interstates and highways, an epidemic that Police Director Michael Rallings says is being met with an increased police presence on roadways.
Rallings joins Daily Memphian reporter Bill Dries and host Eric Barnes this week on WKNO-TV's Behind the Headlines to discuss reasons that these shootings are occurring, along with the Tennessee gun law that allows people without permits to carry loaded firearms in cars.
Rallings also talks about the deadly officer-involved shooting in Frayser in June, as well as the police response to the protest that erupted after the shooting.
In addition, Rallings discusses Memphis' homicide rates and the steps the city is taking to reduce that number.
