Everyone loves a clean mouth, right?
At Church Health Dental, we think keeping that mouth of yours clean and healthy is worth celebrating. In fact, we think it’s worth celebrating not just for a day, but for an entire month! October is National Dental Hygiene Month, and one great way to give your pearly whites some TLC is to practice proper brushing technique.
Here are a few tips to help you “brush up” on your toothbrushing technique:
- ??First, get the right angle. For the most effective brushing, tilt the brush at a 45-degree angle. ?
- ?Next, get the motion down. Gently move your toothbrush back and forth in a rolling, circular motion. Be careful not to be too rough!?
- ?Third, cover all surfaces. Remember, bristles should contact both the tooth surface and the gumline. Get inside, outside, top, bottom, and everywhere in-between.?
- ?Last, don't forget the tongue. Loads of bacteria live on your tongue, so make sure you remember to brush it. It will often result in fresher breath, too.
?
Proper brushing technique is essential for cleaning your teeth and gums effectively. Practicing these methods will result in a healthy smile not just during National Dental Hygiene Month, but for years to come.
