BTH: University of Memphis President on Academics, Athletics and Construction

Five years ago, when Dr. David Rudd became University of Memphis President, the school was facing a large operational deficit. This week on WKNO-TV's Behind the Headlines with host Eric Barnes and Daily Memphian reporter Bill Dries, Rudd explains that recovering from the deficit has been a challenge but says the university “has made progress.”

U of M has made progress on other fronts as well, including graduation and retention rates.

In addition, Rudd discusses a pedestrian bridge on the south side of campus that crosses the railroad tracks and Southern Ave. – providing students safe passage from the new parking garage to the main campus. Rudd reveals other construction projects that are in the works for the university.

At the end of the show, Rudd talks about athletics, including this year’s football and basketball seasons, as well as the impact that sports have on the university.
