Create a Ritual That Will Enrich Your Life

I have forever had a morning ritual that I follow before going to work. It has rarely changed for years. The same is true on the weekends, and now COVID-19 has disrupted my rituals.

It got so bad that last Saturday, I ate an entire box of cookies. What was I thinking?

While most of us are sheltering in place, there is no escaping that our routines are being broken. But we can’t let anxiety, fear, or boredom lead us into unhealthy patterns.

If at all possible, I encourage you to either maintain your routines or find new ones.

Don’t become obsessed with the number of new cases in Shelby County. We now know what we need to do: social distancing will flatten the curve and get us through this ordeal.

But you can still have daily activities that are meaningful and rich. You don’t need to feel you’re lost in the wilderness. Build a routine that enriches your life. Little things everyday can make a difference.

And, as an aside, stay away from cookies that taste like brownies.
