Le Bonheur Children's Hospital identified an employee as the second person to test positive for Coronavirus in Shelby County.

"When the employee developed symptoms, we immediately reported the information to the Shelby County and State of Tennessee Departments of Health and asked them to test our employee for COVID-19," Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare said in a statement Saturday.

The company said the individual was already in quarantine at the time of the test because he or she had been in direct contact with the first person in Shelby County to contract the virus.

The Shelby County Health Department announced the second case on Thursday. Alisa Haushalter said the two confirmed patients travelled together to New Orleans for Mardi Gras.

"We have notified all patients, families and employees who came in close contact with the person and will work with the Shelby County Health Department to make sure all appropriate follow-up measures are taken," the hospital said.

No additional information about the employee was released.

As of Saturday afternoon, there were 32 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state, with the most in Davidson County, which incudes Nashville.

This post initially listed an incorrect number of confirmed cases in Tennessee.  It has been updated to reflect the accurate number as of  Sunday morning.
