A Look at New Investments for Methodist Le Bonheur and FedEx

Mike Brown/The Commercial Appeal

In an interview with Commercial Appeal logistics reporter Max Garland, we look at recent developments in two different Memphis sectors, healthcare and shipping.

After a recent investigation by MLK50 and ProPublica exposed its litigious debt collection practices, Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare has announced a number of changes, including raising employee minimum wages. Garland discusses these developments with us.

Switching from hospitals to airplanes, an infusion of $450 million additional dollars into FedEx's Memphis hub expansion project will bring the project's total cost to $1.5 billion. Garland says FedEx is bulking up for continued ecommerce growth, while positioning itself for future competition from companies like Amazon.
