Crawfish season is in full swing!

Jennifer Chandler

You don’t have to head to the Big Easy to enjoy these Louisianan crustaceans.

They are available throughout the city of Memphis from now until May or June, depending on the weather. You can get them boiled and ready-to-eat with all the fix’ins or pick up a bag of live mudbugs to cook yourself.

Here is a round-up of places that will be selling crawfish this season.

If looking for live crawfish to cook at your own boil, it’s best to order ahead.  All of the spots listed recommend advance orders.

And, just remember the proper way to eat crawfish is to: peel’ um, eat the tails and suck the heads!

Here are four crawfish trucks selling live and cooked crawfish. Each are open Friday through Sunday.

Billy’s Crawfish is at 1325 Church Rd. West in Southaven.

Cajun Crawdad’s has two trucks this year. The original location is at the corner of Highway 72 and Cayce Rd. in Byhalia, MS. The second truck will be at Houston Levee and Hwy. 64 in the TJ Mulligan’s parking lot.

Southbound Seafood’s Crawfish Cabin is located at the corner of Walnut Grove Rd. and Houston Levee.

The Crawfish Shack Food Truck is parked at Dixie Pickers  at 964 June Rd.

Many local bars and restaurants are also featuring crawfish on the menu.

Crossroads Seafood in Hernando, Flying Fish and Cajun Catfish have crawfish on the menu everyday.

The Bluff, Loflin Yard, Max’s Sports Bar, Crosstown Brewing Company, Railgarten and Highland Axe & Rec all host a weekly crawfish boil. Check their social media for times.
