Cinco de Mayo is this weekend!

To celebrate, you, of course, need to enjoy a margarita.

Whether you prefer them frozen or on the rocks, Memphis has plenty of restaurants that make a good margarita.

Here is a list of five of my favorite margaritas—all with a twist.

Swanky's Taco Shop’s Blood Orange Margarita

Swanky's slogan is "Respect the margarita." So it comes as no surprise they have many good ones on the menu.  Their Blood Orange Margarita on the rocks with salt on the rim is one of my favorite non-traditional margaritas in town.

Maciel's Taco Shop’s Paloma

Maciel's Taco Shop on Highland has an extensive craft cocktail menu, many featuring tequila. The Paloma is my go-to order.  It's a margarita made with grapefruit juice.  I like it because it's a bit sweeter and less tart than a traditional margarita, yet still refreshing.

Las Delicias’ Sangria Frozen Margarita

The Sangria Frozen Margarita at Las Delicias is the best of both worlds. Sangria is swirled through their classic frozen margarita. It's a fun, colorful drink that goes great with their chips and guacamole.

Babalu’s Baba Rita

The Baba Rita at Babalu is their signature drink. It's a classic margarita with pomegranate juice added to the mix. This pink drink is refreshing and just the right balance of tart and sweet.

Sweet Grass and Next Door’s Cucumber Margarita

The bartenders at Sweet Grass and Next Door have whipped up a refreshing twist on the margarita - a cucumber margarita.  First, they muddle cucumbers and then mix it with tequila, Cointreau and fresh lime juice for their unique twist on this Tex-Mex classic.
