New Memphis Food Entrepreneurs

One of the positive side effects of our quarantine has the been the burst of creativity by chefs as they have found unique and non-traditional ways to keep their businesses afloat during this world-wide pandemic.

Here are three Memphis women who have turned to e-commerce to provide their customers with their favorite dishes.  Through their new online stores, you can enjoy their specialties in the comfort of your own home.

Goodness Gracious Luxe Cookies

Megan Mottley launched her Goodness Gracious Luxe Cookies gourmet cookie business by selling freshly baked treats to her customers.

As she was relaunching her business in July, she decided to do it with bake-at-home cookie mixes.

Goodness Gracious’ cookie mixes come in four flavors — Chocolate Chip, Snickerdoodle, Classic Sugar and Oatmeal — and retail for $24.99. They can be purchased at ggluxecookies.com

The Waffle Iron

Danielle Johnson, the owner of The Waffle Iron restaurant, is known around town for her sweet potato pancakes.

The pancakes are fluffy and flavorful with just a hint of cinnamon and spices. Johnson’s secret recipe uses pureed sweet potatoes in the batter. One bite and you will know why this is the signature dish at her East Memphis restaurant.

Now you can make The Waffle Iron's sweet potato pancakes at home. Her new online store at thewaffleironmemphis.com features pancake mixes, gourmet coffees and homemade cakes.

Alcenia’s

Alcenia’s owner BJ Chester-Tamayo has launched a new online store for her famous soul food restaurant.

Items like her buttermilk pie and bread pudding can now be shipped nationwide from alcenias.com; so can her pecan pie and sweet potato pie. The shop also includes handmade preserves like apple butter, pickled tomato preserves and "Cha-cha" (her version of chow chow).
