Memphis Dining Week
Memphis Dining Week kicks off today.
Thirteen restaurants are participating in this week-long culinary experience showcasing Memphis as a premier dining destination. It’s the first city-wide dining week for Memphis.
From Aug. 17 -22, diners can enjoy special prix fixe menus at local restaurants throughout Memphis. These multi-course meals are $25 for lunch, and $35 and/or $45 for dinner.
The week-long event also has a philanthropic ingredient. Participating restaurants will donate $1 of the price of each meal to Refuge Memphis, a non-profit that helps local children and families in need.
Cristina McCarter and Lisa Brown, the duo behind City Tasting Box, are the organizers of the dining week. Their company City Tasting Box promotes Memphis restaurants and food artisans by shipping curated gift boxes nationwide.
When asked why they wanted to create the event, Cristina quickly responded, “Because there wasn’t one.”
The event was a natural progression for the entrepreneur who has spent the past few years promoting Memphis restaurants and food artisans through her quickly growing portfolio of businesses: City Tasting Tours, Craft Food & Wine Festival and City Tasting Box.
The original idea for a Memphis dining week came from Lisa, who used to live in Chicago and loved attending the annual Chicago Restaurant Week.
Cristina and Lisa hope that one day Memphis Dining Week will grow and eventually feature hundreds of restaurants like Chicago Restaurant Week does.
They said that ultimately their goal for Memphis Dining Week is for Memphians to get back out and dine.
“This is the perfect week to support your favorite restaurants or try something new,” said Lisa.
