Next Door in Crosstown Concourse

Jennifer Chandler

Crosstown Concourse is now officially open!

As a longtime Memphian, I am amazed and excited to see how that abandoned behemoth of a building has now turned into a vibrant and busy neighborhood.

The latest restaurant to open in Crosstown is a place called Next Door.  At the Crosstown Grand Opening, I sat down with Kimbal Musk, co-founder of The Kitchen and Next Door, to learn more about this new dining spot.

“We opened The Kitchen at Shelby Farms Park about a year ago and Next Door is our more affordable version of The Kitchen. It’s affordable real food from American farmers. We love working with local farmers around Memphis and we bring it to Next Door in Crosstown at affordable prices.”

And why did they choose Crosstown for a location?

“We chose to put Next Door in Crosstown because it’s one of the most amazing projects in building renovations that we have seen across the country. We are so thankful and proud to be part of Crosstown and what it is doing for the city of Memphis.”

I had to ask what was on the menu.

“The most popular items on our menu are our salads, our bowls, and our burgers. Salads are delicious Kale and Apple Salad or Roasted Veggie Salad.  Our bowls are a veggie bowl to a chicken bowl, kinda like an open-faced burrito.  And then our burgers are fantastic. We use locally raised beef and we have our regular burgers and we also have a 50/50 burger, which is half mushroom / half beef.  So it’s better for you and super delicious.”

$2 of every salad will go to support The Kitchen’s Learning Gardens in schools across town.
